Joanna Nelken, HonBSc, MScPT, Cert. MDT, FCAMPTM, Clinic Owner and Director
Joanna graduated with an Honours Bachelors of Science degree in Pathobiology from the University of Toronto, prior to completing her Masters of Physical Therapy degree also from the University of Toronto.
Joanna is licenced and registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, Orthopedic Division. Joanna has been working in private practice orthopedics since 2008 and has taken several post-graduate courses to further her skills.
Joanna is certified in the McKenzie Method, which is an internationally recognized treatment method for spinal and peripheral disorders. She has also completed the Mulligan Concept courses (Upper and Lower Extremity). Most recently, Joanna has obtained her Advanced Diploma of Manual and Manipulative Therapy and is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT).
Joanna utilizes a combination of manual therapy treatment techniques, and individualized exercise prescription to allow her clients to quickly return to optimal function.
Joanna loves to stay active through running, pilates, and numerous sports including soccer, ultimate frisbee, floor hockey, and even Australian Rules Football!
Mike Bennett, MSc.PT., C.A.F.C.I., HBK. Registered Physiotherapist.
Mike Bennett is a registered physiotherapist with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. He obtained his Master of Science in Physiotherapy at the University of Alberta in 2008.
Since graduating, he has worked in private practice in Alberta and Ontario. In 2012 he travelled to Australia to obtain his Certificate of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy.
Mike has received training in the treatment of cancer rehab, vestibular therapy, temporo-mandibular joint therapy, concussion rehab and is certified to do acupuncture through Acupuncture Foundation of Canada. Mike is a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and Vestibular Disorders Association.
He has previously worked with an Australian football team, Tim Horton’s brier, varsity wrestling and recently the Indigenous Games in Toronto.
Pure Physiotherapy offers custom knee braces. These custom knee braces are used to stabilize the knee due to ligament instability/injury or for knee osteoarthritis in order to decrease stress on the knee and promote maximal return to function. These braces are measured on-site and provide a specific fit for you and your needs. Most insurance companies will cover custom knee braces with a Medical Doctor’s referral. Pure Physiotherapy also offers a variety of off-the-shelf braces for conditions such as patellofemoral pain syndrome, knee pain, ligament instability, osteoarthritis, ankle sprains, carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist/finger sprains, and tennis elbow. Our team will be able to help you determine which brace to select for your specific needs.
